Corvette ZR1 improving N-Ring lap time by 4 seconds

Former Formula One racing driver Jan Magnussen (McLaren, Stewart) has taken 4 seconds off Jim Mero's previous ZR1 record lap time of 7 minutes 26.4 seconds.

Lapping the Nürburgring in only 7 minutes 22.4 seconds, Magnussen came just 0.3 seconds short of Tom Coronel's all-time record lap in a Dodge Viper ACR of 7 minutes and 22.1 seconds from last August, which still is the fastest lap for production/street-legal cars on the 20.8 kilometers long Nürburgring Nordschleife circuit so far.

Again, as in the previous run, Magnussen's Corvette ZR1 was completely stock, except for the addition of safety and comm equipment. The Michelin Pilot 2 tires used for the record-run were standard production spec as well, just the same as they will be used to equip ZR1's out of serial production.

See below video for the original footage of Jim Mero's 7,26.4 min. record lap from last June.
